Chapter Six
“Simply beautiful.”
The words came so softly she might have thought she’d imagined them, except that the approbation in Xander’s eyes backed up the assessment. Again, he paused, and her throat dried. For a second, her heart thundered in her ears, blocking out the sounds of the room.
“Okay?” he asked, his forehead creased as he studied her movements and breathing.
“I’m…not sure.” She cleared her throat and pressed her fingertips to where her pulse thudded at her neck.
He replaced her hand over her head, then laid his where hers had been. Holding her gaze, Xander moved his hand down to cover her heart, rubbing his little finger over the still budded peak of her nipple. Her fractured inhalation sawed out from between her parted lips.
“Symptoms of panic include racing pulse and dry mouth, don’t they? Did you know those are also symptoms of desire? And I think it’s the latter, not the former. And so do you, if you’re honest. There’s one sure-fire way to distinguish. Ella, are you wet for me?”
He lowered his gaze to her pussy, and she spread her legs wider, wanton and, yes, wet. She could feel it, readiness gathering, trickling down the tops of her inner thighs, and he could surely see it, especially since he knelt between her legs, spread a hand on each and held his thumbs poised under her labia.
“You are so wet, sweetheart. Your curls are drenched dark red.”
She kept her bikini area short and to the point, mainly for swimming, but had never gone the full Hollywood or even Brazilian, and Xander’s approval showed in the way he twirled a forefinger through the tiny tufts.
“They’re still protecting your treasure though.”
She was still pondering his words when he knelt over her leg and raised the other over his shoulder, propping a pillow under her ass to position her and leaving her open and vulnerable. Her body arched into a bow as he reached for the slim gold vibrator.
“What? Didn’t you bring it with you to have some fun?”
And, just like earlier—no, yesterday when she’d first met him—whatever she might have said vanished, replaced by an affirmative. Because maybe she had, without consciously knowing? He seemed to know her, knew more than she did the extent of her submissive tendencies. She flexed the leg held high over his very broad shoulder, and when he turned on the vibe, she flinched at the low buzz that sounded so loud now.
“I think you’d better close your eyes, sweetheart,” he said.
“Oh, not going to blindfold me?” she managed.
He laughed. “Hugo’s always telling me I should wear a tie, just in case. I get it now. Kinky bastard. Do not mention this when you meet him—he’ll be so damn smug about it.”
Again, he’d casually mentioned a friend of his that she’d be meeting. Does he mean—?
“Just close them. This time.”
His words jolted her out of her reverie, and she snapped her eyes shut, just as he touched the vibe’s buzzing tip to her labia.
“I hope this is waterproof.
